Finding a Lion's den

It's day #4 here in the Bay Area and things are off to a good, if not bumpy, start. I learned yesterday that when logging in to a remote server - a fast internet connection is crucial. Anything over 15 mbps is good. The 3 mbps I've been using at my inlaws feels more like dial up speed from 1999.

The last few days have largely been about getting my basic systems up and running such as my new laptop, accessing our remote server, call forwarding etc. In addition to that, with the move last week it's been a challenge to keep up in general. Yesterday I had 3 offer letters go out for candidates and I'm starting to feel a little on top of things, so it's time to get back to finding an office space. PLUS- Miranda and I found an Apartment last night in Berkeley so we know where we'll be living next month.

As for office space, I'm only looking for a desk for one person so I'm looking at coworking offices and incubators as possibilities. Initially I'd looked at hiring a team right away, but after discussions with our CEO, Alan Cutter, and our Managing Partner, Mike Adler, both of whom are coaching me through this process, we decided that it would be more beneficial to give me several months to establish myself here, learn the lay of the land and get plugged in before I take on the additional burden of developing a team. Once I hire a team, we'll need a private office.

Today I'm going to look at these locations:

Each of them offer a private desk for approximately $500/mo give or take and they nearly all offer drop in plans which is more of a pay per use. I'll report back about the different options.
