The move and first day at the "office"

What a feeling to get in a cab and head to the airport on a one way ticket to San Francisco, California. My pregnant wife, Miranda, and I try to take it all in with a few suitcases in hand with our essentials and some important keepsakes while the rest of our lives slowly makes its way across country in a Mayflower moving van. We arrived Saturday night without a hitch and were picked up at SFO by my sister and my niece. They drove us to my in-laws place in point richmond where there was a welcome home surprise party for us with the rest of the family. Sunday we got to look at an apartment in North Berkeley and visit with some friends and family.
A dell latitude laptop was waiting for me which my office in New York had ordered and shipped over. It's the first time I've used a PC Laptop in a while and it definitely takes some getting used to. It sord of feels like a Ford Taurus of laptops- nothing sexy, but it will get the job done.
Monday morning I woke up early to get started and was immediately confronted with some of the technical difficulties of working remotely. I need to get my phone line forwarding to this home number because my cell has poor reception in the house (thanks AT&T). More importantly, I have been unable to access AC Lion's CRM tool because my license has not swtiched over to my new computer. Without that, I can't access the contact information of the clients I'm working with now, or use it to search in to find candidates for our open jobs from the more than 100,000 records it contains of professionals in the digital media space.
I'm anxious to get up and running at full speed, but I know it's natural that it should take at least a few days/weeks to get all systems up and running.
I've checked in with a few of my coworkers like, Josh Marmer, VP of Interactive Recruiting, and I'm starting to get in my groove.

Here's a list of my to-do items that have to do with getting the new home office set up:

  • Forward office phone to home phone

  • See if I can make/recieve calls on my laptop through our phone system

  • Gain access to CRM
